She's a Peach!

So I think all of you know how I feel about kids. And if you don't, let me just say I am not too fond. We'll leave it at that.

Well, my sister Marisk is (or was now) pregnant with the first baby of all of my siblings. They induced her early this morning and she was supposed to have this little baby girl around lunch time according to Marissa's doctor. Well, lunch came and went and dinner time came as well with no progress. I got to the hospital a little after 5 and sat and chatted with Mariss, my mom, and Cambria to pass some time and to try and cheer Marissa up.

The nurse came in and checked Marissa and there was still no progress so she called the doctor to come down and examine her as well. My mom took that as our que to leave and grab a quick bite to eat so Ryan and Marissa could talk to the doctor alone. Well, not 10 minutes later we got a call from Marissa saying that they were taking her to the O.R. for a c-section because the baby's heart rate was dropping.

We scarfed down our food and were back to the hospital in a jif (no joke, my mom was freaking out and didn't even let us finish dessert. If any of you know my family, you know dessert is the most important part of the day, so she was really freakin out). We waited for a while and then a nurse came around the corner and said "Are you the family of the c-section baby?" And we said "YES!" And she said "She's here! Come and see her!" So we all RAN to the window to see our chunky babe!

She is STUNNING people! STUNNING! I can't believe it! I just can't believe that Marissa's body knew what to do and created a perfect little person with 10 fingers and 10 toes! I burst into tears (which was an utter shock to me and everyone in my family). I just couldn't help it. She is a choice spirit of our Heavenly Father and Mariss and Ryan are so blessed to have her!

Cam and I both agree that her name is Peach. Yes Peach. Because that's what she is, a peach. So I will call her Peach for the rest of her life! I love her and I am so grateful that she is a part of our family!

She's so adorable!! The miracle of life shows itself again! :) Just wait until you have your own - that feeling will magnify! Congrats to your whole family! Is your mom freakin' out that she's a grandma? She'll be one fun grandma!

It is crazy how much those little nieces and nephews and consume your heart. It always amazed me how much I loved them and still love them. I was a bit like you... I did like the idea of kids, but the reality... not so much. Then I met Scout, followed by the four others (before I had Iris) and it changed me.
It just gets better, so prepare yourself. That little Peach is one lucky baby to have all of you in her life.
