A little flighty, but means well....

So I often have people tell me I remind them of Phoebe from Friends. I also get Dori from "Finding Nemo" a lot too. Listen people, I know I'm a bit aloof, but I enjoy that I am like that. It is one of my favorite things about myself and I am extremely flattered when people say I'm like Phoebe. It's truly an honor.

The reason for the Phoebe reference is so you have a preface to this story. It will explain why I was absent for said meeting. So, two days ago we received our monthly newsletter from our HOA. I got hoodwinked into running for the board, I really REALLY didn't want to. I went to my first Relief Society picnic so as to get to know the ward better. Well, I sat across from our HOA president who doesn't take no for an answer.

Anyway, we get our HOA letter and it reads like this:

As you know, the annual HOA meeting was held on Saturday, July 18, 2009. Voting for new board members was to take place during this meeting. However, only one of the candidates, Denise Kimber, was present. Both Megan Jennings (that's me) and Chris Gomez failed to attend.

(it continues) As a community, this left us with a unique dilemma and created quite an uproar with the homeowners present (I caused an UPROAR people... Ah! HA! HA!). After much spirited discussion (uproar and spirited?! I love it!),, a motion was made to delay the voting for 30 days.

Here's where I'll step in. So two people present at the meeting volunteered to run for the board. Another motion was set to reconvene 24 hrs later. Well, no one let me know there was going to be a meeting 24 hrs later, but they called me out a second time saying I "failed to attend for a second time" (once again, I had no idea a second meeting existed, so they shouldn't be throwing me under the bus).

Last but not least, the re-vote is on Tuesday, August 18, 2009. Which is pretty hysterical because Quenten and I will be in Florida. Can't wait to see what they write about me next month! So much for trying to be a part of this ward and community...

Where in the Hell is Snoasis!!!!!

I apologize for the swear people, but this is a VERY serious matter! Today is the official opening of Snoasis, like every year for the past almost 10 years. So, Quenten and I were out to dinner and once we were done eating I said "Let's go get the first Snoasis of the season!" Well, we get to the Dan's on Highland where they have been every summer since they have existed. As we approached I saw a tiki hut and said "Hmmm... they must have upgraded their building. I like the old one better." As we got closer I didn't recognize the people working inside (yes, I know it is ridiculous that I know their employees, but I think it is family owned and so it's the same few people every summer. EXTREMELY nice people by the way, fabulous customer service.) Well, we were now close enough to see the sign that read "AFRICAN ICE." DEVASTATION!

For those of you people who have never had the blessing of a Snoasis, you don't understand the addiction of this place. There ice is PERFECT, and their method of loading flavor and cream is top notch. They do it in a three step process so they cover everything perfectly. And for those of you who have had African Ice, I'm sorry! It's NOT good! Not good at all!

The purpose of this blog is to see if anyone who reads this might know where in the trash I can find Snoasis! They better be somewhere or my life is ruined! Yes ruined!

SNOASIS! WHERE ARE YOU????!!!!!!

New Found Love....

I have found a new love in a little band called Muse. I truly and sincerely love how passionate they are. I always knew I liked their music, I just didn't know the name of the band. I'd hear one of their songs and blast my speakers to their breaking point and think "WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE! I LOVE THEM!" And then I found out their name. And from the pictures I found they aren't to shabby to look at either.

So there you go. If you don't know who they are, they sing the song at the end of Twilight when a certain someone is walking down the stairs. Not Edward, you could call him a certain someone too because he is THAT important. I have to call this person "a certain someone" as to not give something away. If you haven't seen Twilight yet, RENT IT! I was lucky enough to be given the DVD by my sister Ash. She knew I needed it, and so she gave it to me! Yeah! How sweet! That's all I have to say people. The end.

She's a Peach!

So I think all of you know how I feel about kids. And if you don't, let me just say I am not too fond. We'll leave it at that.

Well, my sister Marisk is (or was now) pregnant with the first baby of all of my siblings. They induced her early this morning and she was supposed to have this little baby girl around lunch time according to Marissa's doctor. Well, lunch came and went and dinner time came as well with no progress. I got to the hospital a little after 5 and sat and chatted with Mariss, my mom, and Cambria to pass some time and to try and cheer Marissa up.

The nurse came in and checked Marissa and there was still no progress so she called the doctor to come down and examine her as well. My mom took that as our que to leave and grab a quick bite to eat so Ryan and Marissa could talk to the doctor alone. Well, not 10 minutes later we got a call from Marissa saying that they were taking her to the O.R. for a c-section because the baby's heart rate was dropping.

We scarfed down our food and were back to the hospital in a jif (no joke, my mom was freaking out and didn't even let us finish dessert. If any of you know my family, you know dessert is the most important part of the day, so she was really freakin out). We waited for a while and then a nurse came around the corner and said "Are you the family of the c-section baby?" And we said "YES!" And she said "She's here! Come and see her!" So we all RAN to the window to see our chunky babe!

She is STUNNING people! STUNNING! I can't believe it! I just can't believe that Marissa's body knew what to do and created a perfect little person with 10 fingers and 10 toes! I burst into tears (which was an utter shock to me and everyone in my family). I just couldn't help it. She is a choice spirit of our Heavenly Father and Mariss and Ryan are so blessed to have her!

Cam and I both agree that her name is Peach. Yes Peach. Because that's what she is, a peach. So I will call her Peach for the rest of her life! I love her and I am so grateful that she is a part of our family!

A Page Of New Posts

I haven't been feeling on the up and up for the last few weeks. I just can't figure out what is getting me down, but nothing has been able to pick me up. So I wrote my cutest mom an email today and told her simply that. She wrote me back within 5 minutes and said "Dinner tonight?" And I said "OF COURSE!" So we went to Zupas on 123rd and then across the street to one of our favorite new spots Frogurt. Cambria came along for the night and we all had the greatest time! We laughed, and talked about what is going on at our jobs currently, and then we talked about the most random things that I am sure anyone lending an ear to us was wondering what kind of crazies happened to be sitting near them. That is exactly what I needed. My mom. It's like the song "Your Mother" by the Chipette's. That song still gets me choked up when I think about it. No joke! YES THE CHIPETTE'S MAKE ME CRY! Sheesh. You listen to the song and see how you do! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTCY5-E2A1g&feature=related

Also, if you haven't seen "Chipmunk Adventure" you should rent it! Especially if you have little kids!

Just Made It To #5

So there are 5 things that scare me more then anything else in the world. The 5th only occurred to me the other morning when I was laying in bed. Now numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4 scare me so badly that I could actually vomit due to the severity of my fear. Number 5 sends shivers through me and has ever since I was very very little. Younger then I can even remember. Are you ready for it? The sound of a garbage truck in the morning. No joke people. It scares me bad enough to want to hide. And the days that I happen to be outside when the garbage truck is coming around the corner?! You better watch out cuz I could very well puke I'm so scared! I seriously run to my car and sit. I blast the radio even to see if it will help. So there you have it, I know this doesn't seem like a real problem, but it is. I am being 100% honest. (I actually keep getting the chills and shivers through my body as I think of it!)

Yes, I Am Alive

I am here to say that YES, I am alive and I do know I haven't posted in quite some time. That could be an understatement. So I thought I'd change my background to give people a shout out that I've actually been here myself. I am very sad to see the deer and gorillas leave, but I must say I am almost as proud of this new page! I absolutely LOVE this song! I just think it is hilarious and should definitely be my theme song. Well, maybe not, but it would be pretty hilarious to have as a theme song. More posts to come, that is if anyone still checks this anymore....
